Old Business:
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: May 2 Membership Picnic Lee Sundmark will talk about exotic species, fish update, legacy tax, updates for boating, and bring a fish tank with EWM & Curly Leaf Pond. The menu will be pork chops, potato salad, beans, John will order this.  Grill people will set up at 4:30 (Dean, Jim,…) Order three meat trays for raffles. Some cookbooks could be used for a raffle also.  Suggest guests pay $5.00.  Cammy will not be at May 2 meeting and Jenna not sure if she will be there until later.  Steve U. volunteered Christine to work at the registration table.  Cammy will get cash and Jenna will get cash box and registration materials to Kim W. before the meeting.

Spring Fling – about 50 people were there. About 20 from Lake Washington, with each lake reporting on things they have recently done. Stella in charge next year, several attending thought it would be a good idea to have a speaker….John did a good job of putting ads in the newspapers.

New Business:
Newsletters are going out this week in the mail.  Rick will email newsletters this week.  Rick working with Mike to get updated email list and doing graphics for the announcements.  Ask Mike how we tell if an email address is current or rejected when we send it out.

EXOTIC SPECIES: Bill reported PLM (Patrick) is applying for a permit to treat 92 acres for milfoil with the DNR.  Bill doesn’t think it will be before May 15.

FINANCE COMMITTEE: Cammy did an accounting of our accounts for the past including grants, donations, and dues.  She reports we have a $90,000 CD with ING that matures 5/9/09, the Board decided to make a decision on what to do with this at 5/5/09 Board meeting.  Ken Khler reported in 2006 IRS changed rules for non-profits: must be less than $25,000 per year on average.  If income is more than $25,000 LWIA needs to file another more complex form that is due May 15 of each year.  Ken will check with Dennis W. – Board approved Finance Committee to contact a CPA to file IRS forms.  He will also check with Minnesota Waters if there are more questions about filing this form for a better understanding.

Mn. Waters – contacted us regarding revision of the shore land rules, asking lake associations around the state to sign a petition, that would ask the DNR to get moving on updating the new rules.  They were last updated 20 years ago…Board chose to defer signing at this time.
