https://getdarker.com/editorial/articles/hg92z3d Cormorants Committee: Rich Fernstrom, Ken Klehr, Milt Lueneberg, Arlen Lovell from LWIA met with Lee Sundmark & Leroy Dalhkee (Minn DNR). There has been fish population analysis since 1974, with some fluctuations in fish populations noted over time. The UM has an ongoing project of analyzing the cormorant populations at Pigeon Lake. They started the surveys in 2004. As of today, Pigeon Lake has the largest nesting population of cormorants in the state. Further meetings are planned and need to include Steve Lewis – US Fish Wildlife and Lisa Gelvin Minn. Fish & Wildlife . Was suggested we invite community people such as, Dassel and Darwin Rod ‘n Gun Club, Meeker County Association of Lakes representatives to the next meeting.

source url Lyle W. reported the Charitable Organizational Registration and Annual Report is ready for signatures and to be sent into the State of Minn. Board approved this. The Federal Reporting guidelines have changed to require reporting of more than $50000 per year in income. LWIA had about $24500 of income for 2010-2011 reporting year. The only concern LWIA might have is if 1/3 of our income was from interest. This is not a worry for us at this time.

here Aquatic Invasive Species assessment at this time show little concern for growth based on a 1-4 rating system. Sites tested thus far are in the 0-1 range mostly. Ken is sending the spread sheets (with coordinates and ratings) to Board members, DNR and PLM every week they do the survey. The committee is also doing seechi disk reading when they are out each week.
