Kim W. moved, John F. seconded and the board approved the filing by Lyle to the Fed. and State the Charitable Organization Initial Registration and Annual Report Form.

4) Summer Newsletter – Rick F. reports we have four paid advertisers for this newsletter. Committees need to complete reports by July 6 so newsletter can be submitted for printing. We will publish paid members names and Ken will include the new DNR regulations regarding Invasive Species – additional fines, rules about transporting docks, lifts, etc from infested lakes.

5) Shoreline Captains Committee Update – Cathy will put a reminder on the membership list that goes out with the newsletter. She reports a couple of homes on Lake Washington have recently sold.

6) Cormorants & Pelicans Committee Update – Rick F. has received a report written by the UM and DNR comparing the cormorant and pelican populations on Pigeon Lake from 2010 to 2012.Report states nesting cormorants have increased 1.5%. But the way Rick reads the report the total population has increased 18-31% when counting all the birds reported on Pigeon Lake. The Pelican population has increased 122%, with 500 nested pairs in 2011 and 1205 pairs in 2012. The two islands most affected by these birds were named in the report as BARE and VEGETATED Islands. Other lakes in the MCAL are seeing many more cormorants this year. The DNR are suppose to be doing a fish count in Collinwood and Lake Washington during the last part of July.

7) Invasive Species Committee Update Report – PLM chemically treated 70 acres of EWM on June 7th in the areas delineated by PLM and the Committee. PLM is scheduled to do a survey in the near future of the area treated in 2011 and 2012. We are asking them for a written report of their survey of these areas. Discussions by the board about treating additional areas this year, the infestation of EWM is especially bad in the Southwest part of the lake (south of the culvert). The DNR did a vegetation survey in June 2012 and reported high density in this area. They will be doing another vegetation survey later this summer.

8) Membership Survey Committee Report – The committee members (Kim, Pat, Steve) have data sheets and will be setting up a meeting in the near future.

Steve G reports we get on average 2 visits per day, with 43 first time visits since June 10, and 90% of the visits are from within the general area of Lake Washington. 70 people looked at the 2012 treatment map posted on the website. Steve will summarize this information and put it in the newsletter. There was a discussion about posting newsletters as PDFs on the website.
